3P Technik Volume Filter VF1 Combi | Rainwater Harvesting Tank Filter
Keep your harvested rainwater clean and debris-free with the 3P Technik Volume Filter VF1 Combi (Rainwater Harvesting Tank Filter), supplied by Conlan Oils, Ireland's trusted name in trade essentials for over four decades.
The Volume Filter VF1 Combi is a versatile rainwater harvesting filter designed to remove dirt and debris from collected rainwater before it enters a storage tank. It can be installed inside the rainwater tank, directly on top of the tank, or upstream of the tank, giving installers flexibility when designing a rainwater collection system.
Unlike filters where the clean-water outlet is positioned to the side, the VF1 Combi has its filtered water outlet at the bottom. This makes it particularly convenient for installation inside tanks and provides flexibility when positioning the outlet pipe on pre-tank installations.
The filter is designed to separate debris and direct it to waste while allowing filtered rainwater to flow into the storage tank.
Flexible Rainwater Tank Filter
The VF1 Combi provides the same filtering function as a pre-tank rainwater filter while offering additional installation options. When installed before the tank, the position of the cleaned-water outlet provides flexibility when routing pipework into the rainwater storage tank.
It can also be installed directly into the top surface of a rainwater tank using a suitable sealing arrangement, allowing the unit to function as an additional tank turret.

How the VF1 Combi Works
The VF1 Combi uses a staged filtration process to separate debris from collected rainwater.
1. Water enters the filter
Incoming rainwater enters the unit and the flow is distributed evenly across the cascade system.
2. Larger debris is removed
The first stage of the cascade helps separate larger particles and directs them towards the waste outlet.
3. Fine filtration takes place
Pre-filtered water passes over the secondary stainless steel sieve, which has a 0.65mm mesh size. The filter design allows collected dirt to be carried towards the waste outlet.
4. Filtered water enters the tank
The cleaned rainwater leaves through the bottom outlet and flows into the rainwater storage tank.
5. Contaminants are discharged
Separated dirt and debris are directed to waste rather than being allowed to accumulate in the storage tank.
Rainwater Reuse Applications
The filtered rainwater produced by the system can be used for a variety of non-potable applications, including:
- Toilet flushing
- Garden watering
- Washing machines
- Domestic rainwater harvesting
- Commercial buildings
- Public buildings
- Industrial applications
- General non-potable water use
Always ensure that the complete rainwater harvesting system is designed and installed appropriately for the intended application.
Low-Maintenance Rainwater Filtration
The VF1 Combi is designed to minimise routine maintenance by continuously directing separated dirt towards the waste outlet. Depending on the amount of contamination entering the system, the filter should generally be cleaned once or twice per year.
Actual cleaning requirements will depend on factors such as roof condition, surrounding environment and the amount of debris entering the rainwater collection system.
