The Chicago Pneumatic CP7120 is a professional pneumatic needle scaler and chipping hammer designed for demanding workshop, automotive, agricultural and industrial maintenance applications. Its versatile design allows it to be quickly converted from a needle scaler for rust and surface removal into a chipping hammer for weld slag, scale and other material removal.
With 4,800 blows per minute, a 5.3 Joule impact energy and a robust straight-line design, the CP7120 is ideal for surface preparation, rust removal, wheel and brake drum cleaning, weld preparation and general maintenance work.
One of the main advantages of the CP7120 is its convertible design. The tool can be used as a needle scaler for removing rust, paint and surface scale, then converted into a chipping hammer for removing weld slag and other unwanted material.
This makes it a particularly useful addition to a professional workshop where several different surface-preparation jobs need to be completed using one pneumatic tool.
The CP7120 delivers up to 4,800 blows per minute, providing rapid impact action for breaking up rust, scale and other surface contamination.
Its 5.3 Joule impact energy and 28.4mm stroke provide effective performance for heavy-duty surface preparation and maintenance work.
When configured as a needle scaler, the CP7120 uses 19 x 3mm steel needles. The adjustable sleeve helps maintain the needle assembly during operation.
Needle scaling is particularly effective on uneven and irregular metal surfaces where conventional sanding or grinding tools may struggle to remove heavy rust and scale.
The CP7120 is supplied with a 35mm wide chisel with a 12.7mm (1/2") square shank. The high-resistance chisel is designed for demanding chipping and surface-preparation applications.
The CP7120 requires a clean, dry compressed-air supply and has a maximum dynamic working pressure of 6.3 bar (90 PSI).
Chicago Pneumatic specifies approximately 7.4 L/s (15 CFM) air consumption under load and recommends a minimum 10mm internal hose diameter for a 5m hose.
For consistent performance, pair the CP7120 with a suitably sized workshop air compressor capable of delivering the required Free Air Delivery (FAD).
